How to Open an OctaFX (Elev8) Account: Step by Step (2026)

The exact flow we captured — sign up, verify email, personal info, legal docs, economic profile, then a first deposit from $25 — plus the demo-vs-real call and the offshore caveat to weigh before you fund.

To open a real OctaFX (now Elev8) account: sign up with your email, verify it, fill in your personal information, agree to the legal documents, complete your economic profile and ID checks (KYC), then make a first deposit — from $25. The whole flow took us a few minutes plus the verification review. Below is the exact, click-by-click walkthrough from an account we opened ourselves, including where to decide between a demo and a real account, and the one honest caveat — offshore-only regulation — you should weigh before you fund.

The short version: Sign up → verify email → personal info → legal documents → economic profile + KYC → account ready → deposit (from $25). Opening and verifying the account is free; only a real account needs full ID verification. Before funding, know that Elev8 is offshore-regulated only (FSC Mauritius and MISA Comoros) — not a tier-1 regulator — so deposit only what you can afford to lose.

Open your account the smart way

Opening an OctaFX (Elev8) account is free and takes about 3 minutes — sign up, verify, and you can practise on a demo before funding a real account from $25.

Before you start: demo or real, and what you'll need

Two decisions save you time before you touch the sign-up form: whether you want a demo or a real account, and — if you're going real — having your identity documents ready.

  • Demo account — free, funded with virtual money, no deposit and no full ID check required. It's the right first step if you've never used the platform: you practise on live prices with nothing at stake. See our OctaFX demo account walkthrough for that route.
  • Real account — needed to trade with actual money. It requires full verification (KYC) and a first deposit from $25. This guide covers the real-account flow end to end.

For a real account, have these ready so verification isn't held up later:

  • A valid email address — you'll confirm it.
  • A government-issued photo ID — passport, national ID or driver's licence.
  • A proof of address — a recent utility bill or bank statement, typically dated within the last few months.

One eligibility note that surprises people: the sign-up page states the broker's services are not available to citizens or residents of the United States, or to residents of the Philippines (for tax purposes). If that's you, this broker isn't an option. Everyone else can proceed.

Since February 2026, OctaFX trades as Elev8. The old octafx.com redirects to elev8.com, so the sign-up screens you'll see carry the Elev8 name and logo. Per the broker and industry press, the 9 February 2026 rebrand changed the brand identity only — the account-opening flow, trading conditions and $25 minimum carried over unchanged. Throughout this guide we say "OctaFX (Elev8)" to make that clear.

Step 1: Sign up

Head to the broker's registration page. The first screen is headed "Sign up for Elev8" and asks for just two things to create your login:

  1. Enter your email address. Use a real inbox you control — you'll verify it in the next step.
  2. Create a password. The form's own rules ask for 6 to 32 characters, using Roman letters, digits and a set of allowed symbols. A password manager helps here.
  3. Press Sign up.

If you'd rather not create a password, the page also offers sign-up with a Facebook, Apple or Google account under "other methods" — the same as many web services. Either way, you'll land in your Personal Area to continue.

Step 2: Verify your email & personal info

Right after signing up, the broker sends a confirmation email. Open it and click the verification link to confirm the address — a standard anti-fraud step, and the rest of the flow won't unlock until it's done. If it doesn't arrive within a minute or two, check spam and use the resend option.

With your email confirmed, the registration wizard begins, and a progress bar across the top tracks how far you are (it started at 20% for us on the personal-information step). The Personal information form asks for:

  • First and last name — use your legal name, exactly as on your ID
  • Date of birth
  • Country and city of residence, and your residential address
  • Phone number
  • Whether you have trading experience

There's also a checkbox confirming you're not a US citizen/resident/affiliate or a Philippines resident. Because deposits and withdrawals are tied to your identity, get every detail right and matching your documents — a mismatch here is the classic cause of a stalled first withdrawal later. Press Submit to continue.

Step 3: Legal & regulatory documents

The next step (the bar moved to 40% for us) is headed "Legal documents." Here you tick a single box confirming you have read and agree to the terms, with links to the two documents you're agreeing to:

  • The Customer agreement — the contract between you and the broker's operating entity.
  • The Privacy Policy — how your data is handled.

It's tempting to tick and move on, but this is worth a genuine pause, because which entity you're contracting with matters. Elev8 operates through offshore companies — Elev8 Markets LTD in Mauritius (regulated by the FSC) and Finexis Markets Ltd in the Comoros (licensed by MISA). The former OctaFX group's EU (CySEC) entity was not carried into the Elev8 brand. In plain terms, you're agreeing to trade under offshore regulation, not a tier-1 regulator's protection. We unpack exactly what that means before the deposit step below — read it there. Tick the box only once you're comfortable, then press Submit.

Step 4: Economic profile & KYC verification

The final registration questions cover your economic profile — the kind of financial-suitability questions regulated brokers must ask, such as your income band, source of funds and trading intentions. Answer them honestly; they help set your account up appropriately and are a compliance requirement, not a sales quiz.

Alongside (or shortly after) this, you complete KYC verification: you upload the government ID and proof of address you gathered earlier. This is the gate for real money — you can look around the Personal Area beforehand, but deposits and withdrawals only unlock once verification clears. Approval is often quick but can take longer if a document is blurry or the name/address doesn't match what you typed.

When the wizard hits 100%, you get a welcome screen confirming the account is live. In our run it listed the account Type: Real, the platform (Elev8Trader — the broker's proprietary platform, also known as OctaTrader), the base Currency: USD, and a preset leverage. From here you can Deposit or Skip for now and explore first.

On that preset leverage: the account is created with a default leverage, and the figure varies by entity and region — the broker's published maximum is up to 1:500 globally, with 1:1000 in some regions/promotions and 1:30 for EU (CySEC-era) clients. Higher leverage magnifies losses as much as gains; you can trade well below the maximum, and beginners generally should.

Before you fund: the honest offshore caveat

This is the section most "how to open an account" guides skip, and it belongs here — before your money goes in, not after. Opening the account is free and reversible; funding it is the decision that carries risk.

Elev8 is regulated by offshore authorities only. Its entities are Elev8 Markets LTD in Mauritius (FSC, licence GB21027161) and Finexis Markets Ltd in the Comoros (MISA, licence T2023320). The FSC is one of the more reputable offshore regulators; MISA is a weak, lightly-regulated one — the Comoros central bank has even publicly disputed its authority to license financial firms. Crucially, the group's former Cyprus (CySEC, EU) entity did not move to the Elev8 brand, so there's no EU-style investor compensation behind an Elev8 account.

The review picture is genuinely two-sided and worth knowing before you deposit. On Trustpilot the broker sits around 3.8/5, though Trustpilot flags that it asks for reviews and pays for extra features, so the positive skew is partly incentivised. Users widely praise fast execution and fast small withdrawals; the recurring complaint across multiple platforms is around large withdrawals attracting extra verification and delays, with a minority of individual users alleging frozen accounts — claims we report as attributed, not proven.

None of this makes the broker a scam — it's a long-established, operating broker. But the sensible takeaway is simple: deposit only what you can afford to lose, keep balances at a level you'd happily withdraw in stages, and finish KYC cleanly. Our is OctaFX (Elev8) safe? guide covers all of this in full — read it if you're funding anything more than a token amount.

Step 5: Your first deposit (from $25)

Once verification clears, your real account is ready to fund — the confirmation screen shows your account number, the platform, base currency (USD) and leverage, with a Deposit button and a View dashboard option. To make the first deposit:

  1. Open Deposit from the welcome/ready screen or the Personal Area dashboard.
  2. Choose a payment method. The general list across the broker's regions includes bank cards (Visa, Mastercard), bank and local bank transfer, e-wallets (Skrill, Neteller, Perfect Money) and crypto (BTC, ETH, USDT) — but availability varies by country, so your screen shows the methods that actually work where you are.
  3. Enter an amount. The minimum deposit is from $25, though it varies by method and region, and the broker itself recommends around $100 for smoother risk management.
  4. Confirm. Card, e-wallet and crypto deposits are typically instant per the broker's terms; bank transfers can take longer.

The broker states it charges no deposit or withdrawal fees and even covers third-party payment fees, though your own bank or provider may still add a charge. For the full amounts-by-method breakdown, see our OctaFX minimum deposit guide. One last tip: if you're brand new, fund the minimum, keep your first trades small, and treat the demo as your training ground first.

Bottom line

Opening a real OctaFX (Elev8) account is quick and free: sign up → verify email → personal info → legal documents → economic profile + KYC → deposit (from $25). The account creation took us only a few minutes; the wait is the verification review, so finish KYC with clean, matching documents to keep it smooth.

The one thing to weigh with a clear head is what you're funding. Elev8 is offshore-regulated only, with no tier-1 or EU-compensation backstop, and while small withdrawals are widely praised, large ones are where reviewers report friction. If you're new, start with the free demo, then go live with a small amount you can afford to lose. Open deliberately, verify early, and size your deposit to your comfort — not to the maximum.

FAQ

How do I open an OctaFX (Elev8) account?

Go to the registration page, sign up with your email (or a Facebook/Apple/Google login) and a password, then confirm your email. Complete the wizard — personal information, legal documents and an economic profile — and verify your identity (KYC) with a government ID and proof of address. Once verification clears, make a first deposit from $25 and you can trade. Opening and verifying the account is free.

How much do I need to open an OctaFX account?

Opening and verifying the account costs nothing. To trade with real money you make a first deposit, and the minimum is from $25, though it varies by payment method and region; the broker recommends around $100 for smoother risk management. You can also open a free demo account with virtual funds and deposit nothing at all.

Do I need to verify my identity (KYC) to open an account?

For a real account, yes — you upload a government-issued photo ID and a proof of address, and deposits and withdrawals only unlock once that verification clears. A demo account, used only for practice with virtual funds, does not require full KYC. Complete verification early so your first withdrawal doesn't stall.

Should I open a demo or a real account first?

If you've never used the platform, start with the free demo — it uses virtual money, needs no deposit or full KYC, and lets you learn the interface risk-free. Move to a real account once you understand how it works and can fund it with an amount you're comfortable losing. See our demo account guide for that route.

Is it safe to open an OctaFX (Elev8) account?

It's a real, operating broker, and opening an account is free. But it's regulated by offshore authorities only — the FSC in Mauritius and MISA in the Comoros — not a tier-1 or EU regulator, and reviews show a recurring complaint theme around large withdrawals. It's not an obvious scam, but deposit only what you can afford to lose. Read our is OctaFX safe guide before funding a large balance.

Ready to open a real account?

Sign up free, complete verification, and fund your account from $25 — start small, keep records, and deposit only what you can afford to lose under an offshore-regulated broker.
