Is OctaFX safe & legal?
OctaFX (Elev8) Review 2026: Our Honest Verdict
A full hands-on review of OctaFX — now Elev8 — covering account opening, platforms, spreads, copy trading, offshore regulation and a by-category verdict.
OctaFX — now trading as Elev8 since February 2026 — is a genuinely easy, commission-free broker to start with, but it runs on offshore regulation only, which is the main thing holding our rating back. We opened a real account and reviewed each part of the journey: sign-up, funding, the MT4/MT5/OctaTrader platforms, floating spreads of roughly 0.6–1.1 pips, copy trading, and the safety picture. Our overall verdict is 3.8/5 — a capable, beginner-friendly broker with a real trade-off you should understand before you fund it.

In one line: OctaFX (Elev8) is a genuinely easy, commission-free broker to start with — good platforms, a low minimum and copy trading — but it runs on offshore regulation only, and the recurring user complaint is about large withdrawals. Read the trade-off before you fund it.
Opening an account & first deposit
Getting started is the part OctaFX does best. We opened a real account and the flow was quick: sign up with your email, complete your personal and economic-profile details, then upload ID and proof of address for KYC. Deposits and withdrawals unlock once verification clears. In our run, reaching a funded-ready state took only a few minutes plus the KYC review.
The minimum deposit is from $25, though it varies by payment method and region, and the broker itself recommends around $100 for smoother risk management. Available funding methods depend on your country, but the general list across sources includes bank cards (Visa, Mastercard), bank and local bank transfers, e-wallets (Skrill, Neteller, Perfect Money) and crypto (BTC, ETH, USDT). The broker states it charges no deposit or withdrawal fees and covers third-party payment fees, though your own bank or provider may still add a charge. You can open a free account to see the exact methods and minimums for your region, and we break funding down further in our OctaFX minimum deposit guide.
Once you're in, the dashboard is where you manage accounts, deposits and withdrawals. A free demo account with virtual funds is available from here too — we'd test that before risking real money.

Platforms: MT4, MT5 & OctaTrader
Platform choice is a real strength. OctaFX (Elev8) gives you three ways to trade, so you can pick what suits your experience:
- MetaTrader 4 (MT4) — the classic, lightweight forex platform, ideal if you want simplicity or expert advisors.
- MetaTrader 5 (MT5) — the newer MetaTrader with more instruments, timeframes and order types.
- OctaTrader — the broker's own proprietary web and mobile platform, referred to as "Elev8Trader" in some regional sources under the new brand; it's the same proprietary platform, built to feel beginner-friendly with a cleaner interface and built-in analytics.
There's also a dedicated mobile app, and accounts are USD-based (EUR may be available depending on entity or region). On markets, it's multi-asset — forex, metals, indices, commodities (such as crude oil), crypto CFDs and share CFDs, reported at around 260+ instruments (treat totals as approximate). The screenshot below is the web platform from the real account we opened, so you can see the interface before signing up.

Spreads, commissions & fees
OctaFX (Elev8) uses a commission-free model on its standard MT4, MT5 and OctaTrader accounts: there's no per-trade ticket commission, so your cost sits in the spread. That's simple to understand, which beginners like — but "commission-free" doesn't mean free to trade, because the spread is still a real cost.
| Item | OctaFX (Elev8) | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | $0 per trade | Cost is in the spread |
| EUR/USD spread | ~0.6–1.1 pips (floating) | "From" figures are best-case; MT5 can be tighter |
| Deposit / withdrawal fee | None from the broker | Third-party / bank fees may apply |
| Swap (overnight) fee | Swap-free by default | All accounts are swap-free / Sharia-compliant per the broker |
On pricing, sources give the EUR/USD spread as floating, roughly 0.6–1.1 pips depending on account and source (some quote "from 0.7 pips" on MT4, with tighter "from" figures on MT5). Treat these as variable best-case numbers, not a fixed rate — the live spread you pay changes with market conditions. One genuine plus: the broker states all its accounts are swap-free by default, so you don't pay overnight interest. Leverage runs up to 1:500 as a global standard (1:1000 in some regions or promotions, capped at 1:30 for EU clients) — high leverage magnifies both gains and losses. For a deeper look at pricing, see our OctaFX spread breakdown. There's also an advertised 50% deposit bonus (on deposits over $50, where available), but it only becomes withdrawable after meeting a trading-volume requirement, so read the bonus terms before you opt in.
Copy trading
Copy trading is one of OctaFX's headline features, and it's a legitimate, broker-built tool — not a third-party plug-in. Branded Octa Copytrading ("Elev8 Copy" under the new name), it lets a Copier fund a wallet and automatically mirror the trades of a chosen Master Trader, who earns a commission in return. You browse Masters by risk score, gain, profit/loss, number of copiers and commission before committing.
How the economics work, per the broker's published terms:
- The Copier pays the Master's commission, which each Master sets individually. It's charged weekly, on Saturdays.
- The broker takes 12% of the commission a Master earns, plus a small 0.2-pip spread markup as its service fee.
- Negative-balance protection applies — the broker states you can't lose more than you invested; if a Stop Out pushes you negative, it brings the balance back to zero.
The minimum to start copying is low, though the broker doesn't publish a single official figure — check the current terms. Copy trading lowers the skill barrier, not the market risk: you're still exposed to the Master's losses, real-time slippage applies, and past performance never guarantees future results. Treat it as a way to learn, not a passive-income guarantee.
Regulation, safety & reputation
This is where an honest review has to slow down, because it's the biggest trade-off. OctaFX (Elev8) is regulated by offshore authorities only — there is no tier-1 licence.
- Elev8 Markets LTD — Mauritius, regulated by the Financial Services Commission (FSC), licence GB21027161. The FSC is one of the more reputable offshore regulators, but it is not tier-1.
- Finexis Markets Ltd — Elev8's Comoros entity, licensed by the Mwali International Services Authority (MISA), licence T2023320. MISA is a weak, lightly-regulated offshore authority; the Comoros central bank has publicly disputed its authority to issue financial licences.
Crucially, the group's former Cyprus (CySEC, EU) entity was not carried into the Elev8 rebrand, so Elev8 now runs fully offshore — don't assume EU-style investor compensation. (One review also reported it couldn't locate the Mauritius entity in the FSC registry, so treat the licence as "as stated by the broker" and verify it yourself if that matters.)
Reputation. On Trustpilot, the OctaFX page sits at roughly 3.8 out of 5 across 9,500+ reviews, moving within a 3.7–4.1 band; the newer Elev8 page is thinner at around 3.4/5. Check the live figure yourself at trustpilot.com/review/octafx.com. One caveat you must weigh: Trustpilot flags that this broker asks for reviews and pays for extra features, so the positive skew is at least partly incentivised.
The balanced picture: users consistently praise fast execution, low commission-free spreads, fast small withdrawals and multilingual 24/7 support. The dominant complaint — across multiple platforms — is about large withdrawals attracting extra verification and delays, with some individual users alleging frozen accounts or refused payouts. We report those as attributed user claims, not proven fact. Combined with offshore-only regulation, the sensible takeaway is to size deposits accordingly; we go deeper in our is OctaFX safe? guide.
Pros & cons
Pulling it together, here's the honest balance sheet from opening and using the account.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Low $25 minimum, fast beginner-friendly sign-up | Offshore-only regulation (no tier-1, no EU CySEC) |
| Commission-free trading; swap-free by default | Recurring complaint theme around large withdrawals |
| Three platforms: MT4, MT5 and OctaTrader | Trustpilot score is partly incentivised |
| Genuine broker-built copy trading with negative-balance protection | The deposit bonus has a trading-volume string attached |
| Multilingual 24/7 support; around 260+ instruments | Not available to US clients; some regions restricted |
None of the cons make OctaFX (Elev8) "a scam" — it's a long-running, real broker. But they are real limitations, and the offshore regulation in particular is a structural difference in the protection you get, not a footnote.
Bottom line — who it's for
OctaFX (Elev8) earns 3.8/5 from us: a capable, low-friction broker that's genuinely easy to start with, held back mainly by offshore-only regulation and the large-withdrawal complaint theme.
It's a reasonable fit if you want a low-minimum, commission-free account with a choice of platforms and copy trading, you're depositing an amount you can afford to lose, and you'll withdraw in smaller amounts rather than letting a big balance build up. Look elsewhere if tier-1 regulatory protection is your priority — in that case compare it against a tier-1-regulated broker first; our OctaFX vs Exness comparison is a good place to start, since Exness holds FCA and CySEC licences alongside its offshore ones.
Our advice is the one we'd give a friend: open the free account, test the demo, verify the live terms for your region, complete KYC early, and start small. Judge it with the offshore trade-off in full view — that's the difference between reading a review and reading an ad.

Is OctaFX (Elev8) a good broker?
In our editorial review it scores 3.8/5 — a capable, beginner-friendly broker with fast sign-up, a $25 minimum, commission-free spreads, three platforms and genuine copy trading. What holds it back is offshore-only regulation and a recurring complaint theme around large withdrawals. It's a reasonable choice for a small, informed start, but not the pick if top-tier regulatory protection is your priority.
Is OctaFX (Elev8) regulated?
Only by offshore authorities, as stated by the broker: the FSC in Mauritius (licence GB21027161) and MISA in the Comoros (licence T2023320). It is not regulated by any tier-1 authority such as the FCA, ASIC or CySEC, and the former CySEC (EU) entity was not carried into the Elev8 brand — so Elev8 offers no EU-style investor protection.
How much do you need to start with OctaFX?
The minimum deposit is from $25, though it varies by payment method and region, and the broker recommends around $100 for smoother risk management. A free demo account with virtual funds lets you test the platform first without depositing anything.
Does OctaFX charge commission or fees?
Its standard MT4, MT5 and OctaTrader accounts are commission-free, so your cost is in the floating spread (EUR/USD is roughly 0.6–1.1 pips). The broker states it charges no deposit or withdrawal fees and covers third-party payment fees, but your own bank or payment provider may still add a charge.
Can I trust OctaFX with a large withdrawal?
Small withdrawals are widely reported as fast, and the broker states it usually processes requests within 1–3 hours per its published terms. The recurring complaint, however, is specifically about large withdrawals attracting extra verification and delays, and some users allege frozen accounts — individual claims, not verified fact. To reduce friction, complete KYC early and withdraw in smaller amounts rather than letting a big balance build up.
